Recent press and reviews
We’re happy to share with you some recent news and reviews of our wines:
Monterey Herald (9/14/2011): Reviews a selection of 2009 Waits-Mast Family Cellars Pinot Noirs. “Proprietors Jennifer Waits and husband Brian Mast help vinify tiny lots of Andersen Valley and Mendocino Pinot Noirs that deserve the attention of Pinot aficionados—folks who appreciate high quality and can afford it... The 2009 Hayley Vineyard bottling... was pretty and bright... The Deer Meadows Vineyard ’09... was lovely and creamy... but I was also quite fond of the 2009 Mendocino Oppenlander Vineyard...”
Weird Combinations (8/31/2011): Extensive interview and profile of Jennifer Waits and Brian Mast. The article includes reviews of the wines, describing the 2009 Waits-Mast Pinot Noir from Amber Ridge Vineyard (Russian River) as "lush with lots of fruit—sort of strawberries and cream. It too had some spice and a good finish," the 2009 Waits-Mast Pinot Noir from Oppenlander Vineyard (Mendocino County) as a “powerful wine” with a “musky, spicy nose, orange peel” and a “rich full body with lots of red and black fruit notes and a peppery finish,” and the 2009 Waits-Mast Pinot Noir from Deer Meadows Vineyard (Anderson Valley) as a “creamy, full bodied pinot with red fruit, caramel, raspberry and hints of coffee before finishing with some spice.”
